You’re in good hands at Salzburg Animal Hospital, where our team of dedicated professionals brings a dynamic wealth of experience and expertise to every aspect of pet care.
Both Dr. Salzburg and Dr. Barnes, our respected veterinarians, are both proud graduates of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Graduating in 1988, Dr. Salzburg brings decades of invaluable experience to our practice, while Dr. Barnes continues to infuse our team with the latest advancements in veterinary science since graduating in 2012.
Dr. Salzburg began his professional education by earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida, followed by a master’s degree at the University of Miami. He then returned to University of Florida to achieve his veterinary degree in 1988.
After relocating to Ormond Beach with his family, Dr. Salzburg began practicing exotics and small animal medicine in Palm Coast, FL. In 1990, he continued practicing with Dr. Ben Rawls in Daytona Beach for an additional 5 years before opening Salzburg Animal Hospital. During his free time, Dr. Salzburg enjoys teaching, traveling and spending time with friends, and his daughter and son.
In the summer of 2023, Dr. Salzburg sold Salzburg Animal Hospital to Dr. Jason Barnes, ensuring it remained privately owned and preserving the respected legacy within the community.
Dr. Barnes pursued his professional education at the University of Florida, earning a bachelor’s degree followed by achieving his veterinary degree in 2012. From Gainesville he relocated to Port Charlotte, FL to practice small animal, exotic animal, and emergency medicine. Dr. Barnes and his family moved to Ormond Beach in the spring of 2020 to join Salzburg Animal Hospital, and continue his practices in small animal medicine.
During his free time, Dr. Barnes, along with his wife, son, daughter, and two French bulldogs, enjoy Gator games, outdoor activities, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
In the summer of 2023, Dr. Barnes purchased Salzburg Animal Hospital, continuing the legacy that Dr. Mark and Gail Salzburg built. We are proud to remain a privately owned veterinary hospital, allowing our team to provide tailored care to our patients.
Dr. Eckert began her professional education by earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. She then achieved her veterinary degree from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2011. After completing a small animal internship in Tampa with Blue Pearl Partners, she worked as an emergency clinician for five years. She later relocated to Sarasota, where she practiced general medicine for an additional five years. In 2022, Dr. Eckert and her family returned to her hometown of Ormond Beach, continuing her practices in small animal medicine.
During their free time, Dr. Eckert, along with her husband, son, daughter, and chocolate Labrador, enjoy the outdoors, traveling, hiking, swimming, and spending much-deserved quality time together.
We are excited that she chose to join our team and are confident that she will provide excellent care to our patients!
Alongside our skilled doctors, our compassionate team possess a multitude of experiences complimenting the range of services we are capable of offering. Some have been with us since nearly the birth of our hospital, providing a level of continuity and expertise that sets Salzburg Animal Hospital apart. Others are dedicated to differing areas of interests allowing us to provide a more sincere and personable atmosphere.
